Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident which claimed the life of a young girl in a Yellowstone National Park campground.
The victim was identified Monday as Ella Marie Tucker from Pocatello, Idaho.
On Saturday morning, dispatchers received a 911 call from a woman that her 3-year-old daughter had just shot herself with a handgun, according to a statement released by the park’s public affairs office.
Park rangers and an ambulance responded to the Grant Village campground in the southern portion of the park where the Idaho family was staying.
Efforts to resuscitate the girl were unsuccessful.
